Snow removal was in full-force throughout the area, but some areas were not as fortunate as others in getting the roads taken care of.

Mt. Lebanon officials issued an update to its community Friday regarding its ability to treat the roads during Thursday night’s snowfall.
After a careful review, they are deciding to change up their policies and procedures to better prepare for bad weather.

In order to provide a quicker response, Mt. Lebanon will call in a crew one hour prior to snowfall in a forecasted event. If it’s not, officials will call in crews based on feedback from police.

On Thursday night, public works crews were called in at 5:50 p.m. Shortly after that, police reported back multiple accidents, slowing the entire grid and stalled the plows. Due to the amount of accidents, the normal route for snow treatment was diverted to aide at accident sites.

Normally, Mt. Lebanon Public Works crews’ shifts run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. If snowfall occurs outside of that time window, the on-duty police call public works, so they can start aiding the roads within 30 minutes.
