New music from Pittsburgh’s own Mac Miller (born Malcom James McCormick) is being released posthumously early next year.
The Mac Miller Estate announced late this week that “Balloonerism” will be released on January 17, 2025.
In a release posted on Instagram, the Miller Estate wrote that many fans “are aware of Balloonerism”. It’s an album he worked on during the release of the album “Faces” over a decade ago.
“It is a project that was of great importance to Malcom - to the extent that he commissioned artwork for it and discussions concerning when it should be released were had regularly, though ultimately GO:OD AM and subsequent albums ended up taking precedence,” the estate wrote.
They add while songs from the album have been floating around the internet for years, this will be the official release.
A couple songs off the album were teased earlier this month during the Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival festival, where Miller performed various years in the past.
Miller died as a result of an accidental drug overdose in 2018.
“Circles”, the first posthumous release game out in 2020.
Both Circles and Balloonerism have a January 17 release date, two days before Miller’s birthday.
