A sweet deal is set to happen Thursday in Bakery Square.
Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, at 173 Bakery Square Blvd., will hold its grand opening from 7-11 p.m. and it comes with freebies.
The Columbus, Ohio-based ice cream chain is offering free ice cream scoops during that window to celebrate the occasion.
The Jeni’s Bakery Square location marks its first in Pittsburgh.
WQED’s Rick Sebak says the ice cream is “very good” in an unboxing he did Wednesday ahead of the opening
And of course, Sebak knows his ice cream. He is behind the writer, producer and director behind “An Ice Cream Show”, a national program for PBS.
Jeni Britton Bauer started Jenni’s in 2022 and has over 65 storefront locations around the country. Her ice cream is also available at grocery stores like Giant Eagle.
A second area Jeni’s, announced last month, is planned for a 2023 opening in SouthSide Works.
