After years of anticipation, Pittsburgh's new airport terminal is open for business.
The excitement was palpable with travelers exploring the upgraded terminal, new dining and shopping options and checking out the modernized facilities.
Departing passengers walk into a bright, spacious hall with check-in counters lining both sides with a security checkpoint in the middle, expanded to 12 lanes.
Arriving passengers will get their luggage a lot faster as well with bags traveling three fewer miles than at the old terminal.
One passenger said his bags were already at the clearly-marked, larger baggage carousel shortly after he got off his flight.
There are three areas to park at the new Airport. A garage connected to the terminal, an outdoor parking area next to the terminal and the old extended and economy lots is now called shuttle parking with shuttles running every 10 minutes.
Pavilions have heating, lighting and a screen that tells you how long until the next shuttle arrives.

One traveler, who frequently travels in Asia, says the Pittsburgh Airport has a modern feel, similar to those overseas.
“I think this airport is a good reflection of what the city has done over the last couple of years in terms of transformed,” said Mike, a passenger. “And, it’s just beautiful, extremely modern, clean, very easy to get to, extremely open, a lot of air, just a great atmosphere, a great opportunity for the city.”
