There's a new way to report animal welfare concerns in the City of Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Police announced that they've created a new email address that can be used to reach the bureau's Animal Law Team.
Messages sent to Animal.Law@pittsburghpa.gov will go directly to members of the team.
The new address is a response to recent incidents concerning animals and wildlife.
In March, Pittsburgh Police were called after a woman passing by the Frick Building Downtown noticed a large number of dead pigeons on the ground near the building.
There have been a number of black bear sightings in Pittsburgh neighborhoods this month, including in Mt. Washington, Overbrook and Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar.
A large black rat snake was spotted in Frick Park last week.
"We want to ensure that no concerns regarding the welfare and safety of the City's animal population go unaddressed," says Police Lieutenant, Julie Stoops.
Public Safety Director Wendell Hissrich said, "Protecting pets and wildlife in our city is everyone's responsibility and reflects on who we are as Pittsburghers. Pittsburgh Police want to make it easy for citizens to give a voice to the voiceless by reporting any issues of concern about their welfare and safety so they can be addressed."
