
Two Pittsburgh-area police departments are looking at the possibility of merging.
O’Hara Township says they’ve entered discussions with the Borough of Blawnox to see if it makes sense to merge into one.
If a merger does occur, Blawnox Police would be under the authority of O’Hara Police.
In a release from O’Hara, the first step of seeing if it was feasible to combine the pension plan of each municipality.
“It appears that the Police Pension Plans are compatible and fully funded,” O’Hara Township said in a release.
“The next step in the process is to begin working on agreements between the Municipalities on the combination.”
The township says the process has started.
