Are you owed back pay?
The U.S.Department of Labor is looking for workers in the Pittsburgh area who are owed back pay that has been recovered during federal wage investigations.
Over 16,000 workers in the commonwealth are owed around $16.4 million in back wages.
“In Allegheny County we have 1,100 people due approximately $1.1 million,” Dan Doherty, Assistant District Director with the department, tells KDKA Radio.
While a lot of cases come from the restaurant, home health care and construction industry, any job could be owed back wages.
If you know your company was investigated you should check to see if you're owed money. Even if you don't know, Doherty says to still make sure if you're curious.
Unclaimed wages can only for three years before it is turned over to the Department of the Treasury.
