Pennsylvania voters have known who their gubernatorial choices would be for some time and now it's official.
Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro was unopposed in his primary, as was Republican Stacy Garrity, who is the state treasurer.
It sets up an expensive race for governor.
In the first three months of the year, Shapiro's campaign outraised Garrity's 10 to 1.
U.S. House
Beaver County Sheriff Tony Guy will face U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio in the fall election, while Western Pennsylvania’s other Democratic member of Congress, Rep. Summer Lee, easily defeated challenger William Parker in Tuesday’s primary.
The results filled out the fall ballot in a midterm election that many see as a referendum on President Donald Trump, whose job approval ratings have dropped below 40 percent in many public polls.
Guy defeated manufacturing firm manager Jesse James Vodvarka in the 17th Congressional District as Deluzio, seeks a third term in Washington.
PA State Senate
State Senator Camera Bartolotta survived a Republican challenge from an opponent who accused her of disloyalty to President Donald Trump in a nasty campaign that became the most expensive state legislative primary in Pennsylvania this year.
Bartolotta defeated Al Buchtan in a closely watched contest that split state and local GOP groups against one another and saw $3.2 million spent in advertising.
PA State House
In the State House race just west of Pittsburgh, attorney Brittany Bloam defeated Allegheny County Council President Patrick Catena for the Democratic nomination.
Bloam, 41, of McKees Rocks, will face entrepreneur James Julius, who ran unopposed for the Republican nomination, in the November election.
Catena conceded in a phone call to Bloam Tuesday night, Bloam and Catena confirmed. In a text message, Catena said he “congratulated Brittany and wished her well.”
