A local school district has outlawed phones for many of its students.

Cell phones will not be used, seen or heard during the school day at Penn Hills High School - that decision came down from district leaders earlier this week.
Superintendent Dr. Nancy Hines says she was the last one to get on board, but cell phone use during class is an issue.
“The kids really need help with that self-regulation. The teachers have been trying, but they’re getting exhausted.”
Each student will receive a Yondr pouch - which serves as a lock for their cell phones. They'll lock their phones in the pouch at the start of the day, and will be allowed to unlock them as they leave.
