The currently unpaid TSA workers at Pittsburgh International Airport will get free groceries on Friday, thanks to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
PETA supporters will be on hand at PIT delivering suitcase of vegan food and other supplies to Transportation Safety Administration workers.
The packages will feature “shelf-stable vegan milks, vegan jerky, protein bars, dairy-free mac and cheese, and more, as well as food, treats, and toys for companion animals.”
“We know TSA agents have a lot to navigate right now, and eating vegan can help them stay nourished and healthy as they keep travelers safe,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA thanks the agents at Pittsburgh International Airport for their dedication and hopes this donation helps them through these turbulent times—and shows how vegan staples benefit animals and budgets alike.”
PETA has had similar deliveries at airports in Cleveland, Denver and Fort Lauderdale.
A GoFundMe has also been started by the Allegheny County Airport Authority Charitable Foundation to help support TSA workers.
