The Pirates are donating their previously used metal detectors to Pittsburgh Public Schools.

The team announced the donation on Monday afternoon.

30 walk-through metal detectors and 30 divesting tables will be loaded for delivery on Tuesday morning.

The equipment is no longer needed at PNC Park, with the team installing new Evolv screening technology, making entry into the park faster.

The equipment being donated to Pittsburgh Public Schools is valued at $250,000.

The Pirates say the equipment “will play a critical role in supporting the safety measures Pittsburgh Public Schools currently have in place.”
