The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced a new program, giving fans that bought a “Bucco Brick” back in 1999 another chance to get a “complimentary commemorative” replica of the brick they bought.
Pirates President Travis Williams made the announcement Wednesday morning.
Williams says that a new and permanent display showing all of the original messages is still being planned for display at PNC Park.
The complimentary replica bricks are being offered in addition to the future, permanent display.
“I know how meaningful the messages and tributes are. We respect that. We appreciate that,” Williams wrote in his letter. “We are, and have always been, absolutely committed to ensuring these special messages and tributes live on permanently at PNC Park.”
This is the third time the bricks have been replaced at PNC Park due to wear and tear and other issues.
“We have expedited the development of that new permanent display showcasing these messages in a manner that is worthy of their deep personal meaning,” Williams added.
Williams wants fans to know how much fans mean to the organization.
“My hope is that, through our actions, you will be assured that we appreciate you and we care about you,” Williams wrote.
