A recent graduate of the University of Pittsburgh is charged with possessing child pornography while he was a student.
During a months-long investigation, police discovered that 23-year-old Stephen Cheney allegedly uploaded videos and images to various websites.
They received cyber tips seven times from Google, Kik, Discord, and Dropbox of Cheney uploading or accessing child pornography on the platforms since July 2021.
Police searched his apartment in Oakland and seized multiple electronic devices.
Cheney has been charged with three felony counts for the possession when he was at the university.
He was also a volunteered at the Rangos Research Center at UPMC Children's Hospital, but UPMC have since confirmed he had no contact with any patients and that they had given him a background check prior to volunteering.
According to the criminal complaint, more than 60 images of child pornography were found.
