A catering company in Pittsburgh is under Consumer Alert after an inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department found over 20 violations.
Perfection At Its Best Catering in Wilkinsburg was hit with 21 violations during an inspection on Tuesday.
Among those violations include four considered high-risk, including one an “imminent hazard”.
That imminent hazard is over 40 containers of various sauces not from an approved source.
The Health Department says the owners were unable to provide invoices of the various-flavored mustards at the time of inspection.
Freshly dead mice were seen on a glue trap in the basement along with droppings inside a bag of brown sugar on a dry storage shelf. Potatoes were found chewed in the basement along with “too many to count” mice and rat droppings. Droppings were also found in a cabinet under the employee bathroom sink, on several containers and packages of food on a dry storage shelf and along “all interior walls.”
Burrow holes were found in the basement walls
A bucket of raw chicken wings near a deep fryer was temped between 52-38 degrees. Cold foods must be held at 41 degrees or lower. The chicken was moved into a cooler.
An employee was seen smoking a “cigarillo in between the customer area of the facility and the kitchen.” Also, an ashtray was found on a soap dispenser in the kitchen.
Knives, a fry punch and mixer paddle were found with old food on them.
The Health Department says the facility must be deep cleaned, along with rodents removed before the Consumer Alert is lifted.
You see any updates to the facility’s status on the Health Department’s website.
