A Pittsburgh convenience store that was under Consumer Alert last month is back under alert after a follow-up inspection.
Adan Market 2 on Arrington Avenue in Allentown continued to show evidence of a rodent infestation during the inspection by the Allegheny County Health Department on Wednesday.
Inspectors say a bag of chips was found with chew holes in it, a candy bar was found in a box with rodent droppings, cookies were found in a box with rodent urine, another candy bar in a wrapper was in a box believed to have been shredded by a rodent.
“too many to count” rodent droppings were found in several areas of the store, on and under wooden shelves, perimeter of the walls in the hallway, with inspectors saying previous droppings found in March have still not been cleaned.
An employee told inspectors he is checking for adulterated food from pests, but inspectors found several packages chewed.
Inspectors add that the store does not have a professional trash removal company and that is leading to a hoarding of trash and that pest control is inadequate.
All violations (several repeat violations) need to be corrected in order for the Consumer Alert to be lifted.
