Pittsburgh grocery store ordered closed after several violations

UPDATE: The Heath Department has removed the closure as of January 16.

A grocery store on Saw Mill Run Boulevard was ordered closed by the Allegheny County Health Department recently.

Noble Asian Grocery Store in Whitehall was ordered closed on Thursday for several violations.

Nearly 30 dented cans were found throughout the store. They were removed from the sales area.

Some of the high-risk violations include, Boxes of food were present in an area where indoor sewer line and demolition construction was taking place. Some products were partially submerged in dirt in the area.

Bulk frozen food, including squid, chicken feet, beef and pork were not labeled for retail and a bag of Kimchi was found in a cooler expired with severe “mold-like growth.”

Raw pork and beef were being offered for costumer self-service. Raw meat cannot be handled by customers.

Another high-risk violation is the lack of a sink for washing and sanitizing food surfaces.

Other lower risks include, operating while there is no water supply (plumbing work is in progress).

Several other violations were posted due to the plumbing work.

The violation, places on the Health Department’s website, is still active as of January 15.
