When it comes to the quality of hotels, a new study found that Pittsburgh needs to clean up its act!
The travel advisor website Planetware examined online customer reviews for more than 9,000 hotels in 95 major cities across the country.
They found Pittsburgh ranks 32nd for worst hotel reviews... even worse than Philadelphia, which came in at 39.
The data shows that Pittsburgh hotels had 12 percent overall bad reviews, of one and two stars.
Spokesperson Melissa Stephenson says the most common complaint about Pittsburgh hotels was cleanliness, followed by service.
“Pittsburgh ranked 14th for complaints of hair in rooms and 19th for mold issues,” said Stephenson.
The study also examined upkeep, thickness of walls for noise control, and of course, bed bugs.
And in case you're wondering, the cities with the worst hotels in America according to this study are Myrtle Beach, Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Virginia Beach, with 1 in 5 visitors leaving bad reviews.
Nationally, the most common bad reviews were for
1. Smell of smoke
2. Lack of toilet paper
3. Bed bugs
4. Thin walls
