A man who worked his way up from a zoo keeper to Curator of Reptiles and Kids Kingdom is retiring from the Pittsburgh Zoo.
Recognized by visitors for his trademark fedora, Henry Kacprzyk is leaving the zoo after 43 years.
He started as a zoo keeper and went on to educate the public about animals and wildlife conservation.
Kacprzyk shared his feelings about leaving the zoo in an interview on the Big K Morning Show.
“It’s emotional, you get to the point where it’s a change in life and you got to give up,” said Kacprzyk “Seeing some of the animals and the people I love, you have relationships, everybody’s like family here.”
Henry says it won't be a clean break. He'll come back occasionally to do some things with the educational department.
