The future of public transit in the Pittsburgh area became a bit clearer Monday, as the Port Authority's NEXTransit team released its preliminary 25-year plan.

The plan was released as part of three public meetings over Monday and Tuesday.

There are 35 projects as part of the plan, with ten marked as priority.

Some of the top priorities include an East/Central Pittsburgh River to River Connection, a Downtown Transit Hub and completing a Library Line Best Use study.

"This list is not set in stone," said Port Authority Director of Planning Amy Silbermann. "This is a list we want to talk to you about and make sure you understand how we got to this point and then start to hear from you if you feel like the list is representative of your community."

A public comment period will take place sometime next month before the NEXTransit team releases its draft plan.
