Guns were removed from a parish house and a priest was taken to a hospital after a welfare check in Butler County Tuesday.

Officers were sent to St. Conrad church in Meridian for "a mental health issue involving weapons."

Several guns were taken from the residence and the priest was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

In a statement, the Diocese of Pittsburgh said the unidentified priest has been on a leave of absence for "health reasons."
