Two former corrections officers and a former inmate at the State Correctional Institution in Fayette County are facing a host of charges stemming from an alleged drug ring operating out of the lockup.
Attorney General Dave Sunday says a statewide grand jury recommended charges be held against the officers, 37-year-old Beau Angelo and 40-year-old Charity Thompson and former inmate 33-year-old Vadol Lewis.
Prosecutors say the officers sold drugs to inmates, and Lewis provided them with the drugs after he had been released.
According to the investigation, Angelo and Thompson sold K2 and Suboxone to inmates.
“This case involves a betrayal of sworn oaths to protect the public, and conduct that threatens the public’s confidence in all officers with duties to keep their communities safe,” Attorney General Sunday said. “I commend the work of the investigative agencies who acted professionally and diligently to uncover this criminal organization, and thank the grand jurors for committing their precious time to hear testimony that led to the filing of serious charges.”
The alleged drug ring was discovered in late 2024.
