The Pennsylvania House Republican Caucus, released a statement saying "As parents and fellow legislators, we are disgusted by Rep. Bernstine’s conduct. In order to take the time necessary to focus on his family and repair his relationships, we call on Rep. Bernstine to immediately resign."
In one video, Bernstine encouraged his young son to smoke a cigar. In another, he tried to get him to play the game F###, Marry Kill as it relates to several female country music singers. In addition, the boy can be heard whispering a vulgar term for female genitalia after being asked by Bernstine what they were "going to chase in Nashville."
During an interview, Bernstine that the videos were private and sent to friends and one of those friends shared them with the media.
The account associated with the video has reportedly since been deleted.
Bernstine released a video statement on Twitter Thursday with the text, "I vow to do better....."
In the video he said the videos that were shared were from a private vacation and included "jokes that went way too far." He said "For that, I am truly sorry. I have to do a much better job as a role model for my child. I'll continue to work on that and me and my family are addressing it as a private matter."
Berstine went on to say that there may be more coming. "Now over the next 26 days before the election, there's going to be a lot of other thing that people try to put out - some of them true, some of them manipulated and some of them just downright false.
"Now the party bosses of both sides are gonna try to take advantage of this situation. I've seen it in Harrisburg during my last three-and-a-half years there. They'll continue to pound away on things, just to try to make and score politcal points.
"Over the next 26 days, I'm gonna continue to work hard to gain your trust and work on the issues that matter to the people of the 10th legislative district."
