Things should be back to normal after a scare led to a lockdown at Monroeville Mall Sunday afternoon.
Police Chief Doug Cole said there were reports of shots being fired just before 3 pm, leading to a lockdown. But, there was no evidence there actually was a shooting.
“Our information was very sketchy and it continued to evolve, but we could never find anyone that was either shot or even any physical evidence that a gunshot had even gone off in the mall,” said Chief Cole.
The Chief said that there were reports of an altercation possibly involving a gun. They got another call that the gun my have actually been a cell phone. Then, they got a third report of shots fired, but no shots were fired.
Social media video of police rushing through the food court was widely circulated on Sunday.
The mall has been the site of several violent incidents over the past ten years.
