A local police department cracking down on speeding and aggressive driving.
Shaler Township Police announcing the launch of Operation Safe Speed along the Route 8 corridor.
Officers will be monitoring drivers not only for speeding, but also red-light violations, aggressive driving and other dangerous habits including handheld cell phone use.
The program is underway, with officers monitoring various times of day and days of the week.
Chief Sean Frank says they are emphasizing morning and afternoon rush hours when traffic is at its heaviest.
