HARRISBURG (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) – Due to the backlash over U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey's decision to vote to convict Donald Trump during the second impeachment trial, the Pennsylvania Republican Party is planning to meet over potentially censure Toomey, the TribLive reports.
Toomey was one of seven Republicans who voted to convict Trump of "incitement of insurrection."
Many Pennsylvania county parties have already moved to censure Toomey, the only PA republican to vote for impeachment, including York Country's Republican Party. Rep. Dawn Keefer, the resolution's sponsor, said the county party has grown frustrated with Toomey over the past four years, specifically for not standing up to the Democrats who attacked the President for four years.
Washington County GOP chairman Dave Bell said that Toomey's "political career is over in this state" and that "his legacy is tarnished beyond repair."
