The Seneca Valley School District posted an important message to their website Thursday, regarding a rumor of a social media threat to its secondary campus, grades 7-12.

District officials squashed the rumor of the threat, citing it was non-credible.
"Please know our students and staff are safe. The police have investigated these reports and have found them to be non-credible. Normally, we would not address such rumors. However, due to the wide sharing of this misinformation, we felt it important to address it at this time."
The message continues to stress the importance of not spreading rumors of that nature.
District leaders urge parents to remain vigilant in discussing the concerns of their children, but to help control the spread of "I heard" speech on social media.
Despite assurances that the threats have no credibility, Jackson Township police tell us that an increased police presence will be maintained at the campus, out of an abundance of caution.
