The Shadyside Giant Eagle is set to close next month to make way for a new grocery and apartment complex at the site.
The store on Shakespeare St. will close July 23rd at 6 p.m. This fall, developer Echo Realty will begin construction on a 232-unit apartment complex, a new 36,000-square-foot Giant Eagle, and a parking garage at the site at Penn and Shady avenues.
The project still needs the approval of the city planning commission.
Giant Eagle says all of the store employees will be able to return once the new Giant Eagle is completed.
