Sergeant Nathan Hellman was shot and killed Monday Morning inside a building at Fort Stewart.
According to the Army Times the gunman is a soldier and is in the custody of the US army criminal investigation division.
Hellman worked as a chemical biological, radiological and nuclear specialist.
The 30-year-old had been a service member since 2015 and had one deployment to Afghanistan.
