Thousands are still without power across the Pittsburgh region after severe storms due to extreme heat.
And the outages could affect some people even into the weekend.
Duquesne Light reported that about 90,000 customers were without power following Monday’s storms.
However, as of Tuesday afternoon that number has gone down to 12,000.
But, how long could some of these customers be without power?
Duquesne Light’s Hollie Geitner says some customers may not be up and running until Sunday.
“I know that is awhile, but we do expect many people to be up before then,” said Geitner.
Duquesne Light put out a warning to customers last Friday ahead of this week's heat wave, anticipating having extra crews available to respond to an increased strain on the power grid.
With the high temperatures lasting through Saturday, storms could continue to pop up throughout the week.
And that could mean more downed wire and people without power.
