An employee at a local bar, accused of making extreme alt-right comments on a podcast, has been suspended indefinitely.

Mario’s South Side Saloon says Scott Siverts, “who participated in an offensive conversation on a podcast has been placed on indefinite suspension.”

In the statement, Mario’s say they are working to understand “his role in the conversation on the podcast.”

In a podcast posted to social media, Siverts participated in a discussion, making disparaging remarks about Black and Jewish people.

The podcast “created by former U.S. Marine Scott Benjamin Siverts” according to social media, espouses anti-Jewish, pro-Nazi, anti-Black and other alt-right conspiracy theories.

Siverts received attention after an online post pressured people to contact Mario’s about his employment.

“Mario’s will continue to employ and sever all of Pittsburgh in a safe and respectful environment in all 3 Pittsburgh locations,” the post from Mario’s reads.
