St. Joseph the Worker Parish pausing in-person Mass due to COVID case

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) — The Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh announced on Friday that a clergy member involved with the Saint Joseph the Worker Parish has tested positive for COVID-19.

The St. Joseph the Worker Parish will suspend all in-person Masses because of that positive test.

But in-person Mass will reopen on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Until then, the St. Joseph the Worker website will offer livestreams of the Masses.

The clergy member that tested positive last participated in Mass on Nov. 19.

"Statistics are impersonal -- until someone you know becomes one," said Father Frank Almade

"One member of the St. Joseph the Worker Parish clergy team has tested positive for COVID-19. His symptoms are mild, but I ask our parishioners to pray for him, his full recovery, and all who are afflicted during this pandemic. Since our clergy team was together for prayer with him, we are placing ourselves in quarantine out of an abundance of caution. I am sorry for any inconvenience this causes. I suggest that our parishioners who are well consider attending Mass at a neighboring parish, or anyone can watch our live-streamed Mass from Word of God church. See our website for details," Father Almade continued.
