Cars lined the North Shore Tuesday for a Thanksgiving food distribution event hosted by the Steelers, Penguins, Pirates and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
The drive-up event outside of PNC Park provided enough food to feed 300 families.
A number of current and former players for the three teams were on hand to help, including Steelers cornerback Cam Sutton.
"We have a lot of great people out here today who are not self-centered, who are about giving back, who are about a bigger cause than themselves," he said.
All three teams have built robust community service programs, but often don't get the chance to work together.
Former Pirate Neil Walker said there's added meaning to seeing a collective effort to give back.
"To have the three major sports teams here in town come together and provide meals for the needy is really cool," he said. "Everything that's happened, especially this last year and a half with COVID, it's good to know that people come together and rally together for a greater cause."
This is the food bank's last distribution event before Thanksgiving. There are more details about getting help from them and future distribution events on their website.
