Let's start out with me saying what some people don't seem to believe... "I don't hate tattoos." Some ink is extremely beautiful and truly works of art. However, people don't always make the best decisions on where to place that art when it comes to future career paths. That's where new technology at places like Removery is stepping up their game and giving people new options.
In the video on this page, I visited the Removery (formerly Disappearing Ink) location in Pittsburgh's Lawrenceville neighborhood. Company co-founder Carmen Brode took me to school on what they do and why they do it. She even let me watch and talk to one of her employees who was getting zapped.

Check it out. If you can't make out the images above, the one this artfully inked woman is getting removed is the Zombie Elvis Presley on her thigh. She still loves "The King" but decided now that she's older, the zombie just doesn't fit. So once the old ink has faded away after her treatments, she's planning on replacing it with a fresh tattoo of a young Elvis.

If you've heard me harp on the fact that visible tattoos can keep you from getting certain jobs, that's just the reality of it. Carmen tells me some of the people who come in to get laser removal are doing it specifically for that reason while others are getting tats faded before getting new ink.
Sure, they're more acceptable than ever, but not in every professional environment and not in every community. The good news is that you always have a choice, and thanks to options like Removery you can choose to undo it later if you have to.
