The teenage boy who was struck and killed by a car yesterday afternoon in Ross Township has been identified.
First responders arrived to the 4800 block of McKnight Rd at around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday on the reports of an accident.
Police say 15-year-old Christopher Lucas, of Pittsburgh, was standing in the parking lot of North Hills Village when he was struck by a car driven by an elderly man.
Pittsburgh Public Schools released the following statement:
"It is with deep sadness we confirm the tragic passing of Pittsburgh Allderdice student Christopher Lucas. On Saturday, the ninth-grader was fatally struck by a vehicle in Ross Township. With his one-of-a-kind personality, Christopher was known as an unconventionally funny young man who loved a good joke."
"He is remembered for his kind heart, strong will to learn and a love for drawing cartoons. He will be missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with Christopher's family and friends during this difficult time."
Lucas died at the scene. The driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative. Police don't believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident. It's unclear if charges will be filed.
