Pittsburgh-based 'The PITT' leads Emmy nominations with 25

The nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are out and the Pittsburgh-based medical drama “The PITT” leads all dramas with 25 nominations.

Starring Noah Wyle, "The PITT" has become one of the most popular shows in television, winning the Emmy Award for outstanding drama last year.

Wyle also won the Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his role as Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch.

The setting for the show takes place in a fictional Pittsburgh hospital, but all of the exterior shots are filming at Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side.

The show is once again nominated for best outstanding drama series and Wyle is nominated for Best Actor.

Patrick Ball, who plays Dr. Frank Langdon Shawn Hatosy, who plays Dr. Jack Abbot and Gerran Howell, who plays Dr. Dennis Whitaker are all nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.

Four of the seven women nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series are on “The PITT”.

Taylor Dearden, who plays Dr. Mel King, Diona Dourif, who plays Dr. Cassie McKay, Katherine LaNasa who plays Dana Evans and Sepideh Moafi who plays Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi are all nominated.

HBO Max calls "The PITT" "a realistic examination of the challenges facing healthcare workers in today's America as seen through the lens of the frontline heroes working in a modern-day hospital in Pittsburgh."
