Every have a breakfast biscuit so good it could be the centerpiece of a restaurant?
That's the case with Wise County Café in Pittsburgh.
The breakfast and lunch spot opened just opened in mid-November on Galveston Avenue in Allegheny West on the North Side.
"(We) have a strong focus on our buttermilk biscuits," said co-owner Lena Laskaris. "Most everything is made in house and we're inspired by the comfort foods of Appalachia like country ham and slow cooked grits."
Other menu items include biscuits and gravy, eggs, potatoes, greens, sandwiches and more.
Wise County is open Wednesday – Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Along with James Wolfe, Lena established Wise County Biscuits in 2017 and after some time in Washington DC, have returned to Pittsburgh.
The food is inspired by recipes from James' grandmother, a native of Wise County, West Virginia.
