The latest one was a loaded .40 caliber handgun found in a Canonsburg man's backpack at airport security.
A loaded handgun in a Pittsburgh man's carry-on was stopped on Friday and another loaded gun was stopped on Saturday in a Colorado man's carry-on.
TSA officers notified Allegheny County Police, who confiscated the weapons.
The TSA says the incidents are not related.
PITTSBURGH –Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Pittsburgh International Airport detected a third gun within a four-day span from Friday, Oct. 14, through Monday, Oct. 17.
"When a traveler brings a gun to the airport checkpoint, the U.S. States Attorney's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania requests county sheriffs to rescind a resident's firearm concealed carry license due to negligence," the TSA said in a release.
The three guns brings the year total of weapons stopped at Pittsburgh International Airport to 21 as of Monday.
That ties the amount confiscated during the pandemic year of 2020. Last year 32 total guns were stopped by TSA agents.
