Ex-NFL player accused of assaulting son during youth football game

Tommie Campbell dismissed by Central Valley youth football

Pittsburgh's Headlines: September 16, 2026

Former NFL player Tommie Campbell is accused of assaulting his 6-year-old son during a youth game he was coaching in Beaver County.

Campbell can be seen on video yelling at the boy on the field. District Attorney Nate Bible told KDKA-TV the child put his hands up and Campbell slapped them away and dragged him off the field.

The Central Valley Li’l Warrior youth football organization says they have removed Campbell “from his coaching position, notified and cooperated with law enforcement, and continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of every child in our program.”

The organization also detailed the actions it took following learning of the incident.

The organization’s statement reads, in part:

“We want to be very clear that the safety of our players is our #1 priority. Once we became aware for the incident, we took immediate action and have been fully cooperating with CTPD throughout their investigation.”

Center Township Police are investigating.

The CVLW organization says Campbell was in his first year as an assistant coach and had turned in all of the proper clearances to coach.

Campbell was taken in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans and also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars before playing several seasons in the Canadian Football League.
