
UPDATE: Tornado Warning expires

NWS Pittsburgh says the warning was in effect for “East Central Allegheny County and Northwestern Westmoreland County.
Just before 5 p.m. a severe thunderstorm “capable of producing a tornado was located over Aspinwall, or near Penn Hills,” the National Weather Service said in a statement.
Impacted areas included:
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Monroeville, Apollo, Shaler Township,
Plum, Murrysville, Wilkinsburg, New Kensington, Lower Burrell,
O`Hara Township, Oakmont, Fox Chapel, Etna, Sharpsburg,
Springdale, Churchill, Aspinwall, Verona and Blawnox.
Those impacted by the warning should head to the lowest part of their home and stay away from windows.
There are other watches and warnings in effect around Southwestern PA.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Allegheny Westmoreland, Indiana, Butler and Armstrong Counties until 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
East of Pittsburgh, A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 1 p.m. Thursday through 7 a.m. Saturday.
Impacted areas include higher elevations in Fayette and Westmoreland Counties and in West Virginia, Eastern Preston, Preston and Western Tucker Counties.
The Pittsburgh area is going through a dramatic shift in weather on Wednesday with a cold front moving through.
Power outages are being reported on Route 910 and Route 8 as well as other places.
