There was a train crash late last night on Peterson creek road and Clairton Blvd on Route 51. Police have been on the scene since 11p.m. last night. A dump truck was traveling north on Clairton Blvd when it collided with the train. The truck was pulled across the tracks and the police chief says one person has died. The train was traveling on the Lake Erie railroad when the crash happened.
According to police on the scene traffic lights were working. There was liquified petroleum gas on the train, but according to police, nothing is leaking and the train was not derailed. The focus has moved to removing the truck and a further investigation into what happened. Expect delays to continue throughout the day from Jefferson Blvd to Ridge Road.
