It was a game of no-limit Texas Hold’em that anyone would want to be a part of.
Rivers Casino says a bad beat jackpot hit on the North Shore Tuesday night during the game.
The eight players will divide up a jackpot of $905,622.13.
Rivers explains what a bad beat in poker means, “A rare high-ranking hand is beaten by an even higher-ranking hand, hence the losing hand triggers the bad beat jackpot and wins the lion’s share of the money. At Rivers, the losing hand earns 40% of the total amount, the highest-ranking hand wins 30% of the jackpot and the remaining players split the rest equally.”
Scott Thompson of Washington, PA had four aces and Brent Enos of Jefferson a royal flush an ace, king, queen jack and 10 of hearts.
Thompson, the “loser” won $362,550.13, Enos the “winner” takes home $271,686.
The six other players each win $45,281.
“We are unexpectedly and happily becoming a national bad beat jackpot hotspot,” said Bud Green, general manager at Rivers Casino Pittsburgh. “Congratulations to our winning guests and to our Rivers Pittsburgh Poker Room Team Members for doing a terrific job.”
Rivers Casino holds the record for a bad beat jackpot. $1.2 million was paid out in August 2022 when a player from West Virginia won over $490,700 and a Pittsburgher won over $368,000 with six other players winning over $61,330
“Following last night’s exciting payout, another bad beat jackpot has already started and continues to grow daily with the minimum qualifying hand of four of a kind, 10s or higher,” a release from the Casino said.
