Two killed in overnight accident on I-79

Two people were killed in this morning's fiery crash on I-79 north of the Neville Island Bridge.

State Police say three vehicles were involved in the accident near mile marker 67.

The fatal collision occurred a few minutes before 12:30 a.m.

A southbound tractor-trailer crossed the median into the northbound lanes, and hit one vehicle head on.

Both went into an embankment and burst into flames.

Both drivers died at the scene.

The trailer separated from the cab and hit a second vehicle.

People who survived the collisions were transported to hospitals.

As of 11 a.m.
traffic was still down to one lane with crews cleaning up.
