Sheetz convenience stores is once again offering gasoline for only $1.99 a gallon through Monday, November 27 at 11:59 p.m. to celebrate “Tanks-giving”.
It’s the Unleaded 88 blend.
Triple-A spokesperson Jim Garrity says not every car takes it.
“That’s the kind of thing where if you use it for a sustained period of time, the damage would add up inside the engine, but you could see some damage from using it even one time, so you don’t want to mess with it just because you’re looking at the pump the dollar signs are flashing before your eyes,” said Garrity.
Unleaded 88 has a higher amount of ethanol in it.
It is not approved to be used in cars produced before 2001, Heavy-duty trucks and motorcycles should also not use the blend.
The best way to check if your car can take unleaded 88 is to check your vehicle’s owner manual.
