$220 million office tower to be built in Pittsburgh at old Civic Arena site

A new development project in Pittsburgh is being hailed in Harrisburg.

Governor Tom Wolf announced today a joint venture with Pittsburgh Arena Real Estate Development LLC, and the Buccini/Pollin Group to develop the FNB Financial Center.

The $220 million project is expected to result in a new 26-story, 548,000 square foot office tower on a portion of the Lower Hill Redevelopment Site, where the old Civic Arena used to sit.

In a statement, Wolf said, "This development will provide more than just a safe, state-of-the-art working space for thousands of employees in Western Pennsylvania, it will benefit the surrounding community and actively engage minority and women-owned businesses in the area.”

The mixed-use facility is expected to open in 2023 and will be the first new office tower in the city since 2015.
