Visitation and funeral plans for Officer Sluganski finalized

The funeral for fallen McKeesport Police Officer Sean Sluganski have been announced.

The funeral will be held at Noon next Tuesday, February 14 at St. Albert the Great Church of Blessed Trinity Catholic Parish in Baldwin.

Sluganski grew up in the parish and his mom still attends the church.

Father Steve Kresak will lead the service along with Father Tom Burke.

A visitation will take place at the John F. Slater Funeral Home on Brownsville Road in Brentwood on Sunday, February 12, from 12 to 8 p.m. and Monday, February 13 from 2 to 8 p.m.

Sluganski was killed during a domestic incident on Wilson Street between a mother and her son.

A second police officer, Charles Thomas Jr. was also shot and is expected to recover.

McKeesport Police Chief Adam Alfer spoke after Sluganski’s death.

"This is a tragic loss for our department and our community," said Alfer.
"We have lost a friend, a trusted colleague and an officer whose passion was providing service to the public. At this time, we ask that you keep all of our officers and their families in your hearts, particularly the families of Officer Sluganski and Officer Thomas."
