A lifelong friend of fallen McKeesport Officer Sean Sluganski and his family has started a GoFundMe page to help Sluganski’s fianceé and his one-year-old daughter.
The page started by Melissa Vargo has raised over $33,000 as of Tuesday afternoon.
“Sean was an amazing dad, fiancé, brother, son, uncle and friend,” Vargo wrote. “He lit up every room he entered and was sure to have you laughing in no time. He was one of the kindest people you could ever meet and family meant everything to him.”
Sluganski was 32-years-old and resident of Baldwin. He had been with the McKeesport Area Police Department the past two years. Before that he worked at the Charleroi Regional Police Department.
According to a criminal complaint, Sluganski was shot by a man who was reportedly suffering from PTSD.
Officer Charles Thomas Jr. was also shot during the incident and is recovering at a hospital.
Vargo says funds raised will go directly to the Sluganski’s fianceé Chelsea and will help pay for expensive for baby Haven and step up a future college fund for her.
