A local school district is taking steps in case of civil unrest following Tuesday’s election.
West Mifflin School District says there is potential for a remote learning day on Wednesday if “there is any volatile behavior or unrest within our community.”
“We recognize the possibility of strong reactions in our community and the country,” Superintendent Jeffrey Soles told parents and guardians in a memo.
The district says they are preparing to hold classes remotely, just in case.
Families will be alerted by 6 a.m. on Wednesday “should a remote learning day be necessary.”
Earlier this week, Pittsburgh Public Safety released a statement saying they are prepared to handle any situation and that any civil unrest will not be tolerated.
Officials add that the preparations are only a precautionary measure and that there are no specific threats at this time.
