Some good news for fans of the Wagon Wheel restaurant which recently just closed for good.
While the popular restaurant on Route 22 is no longer selling food and isn’t open during regular hours, people can still get a taste of their famous “red cake”.
One of the owners, Mimi Kaufman, announced on a Facebook community page Sunday that she will continue to bake and sell the cakes.
Kaufman says the phone number will be the same as the Wagon Wheel, 724-468-8189, “please no texts or messages for cake orders.”
She says the phone number will soon be switched over to her cell phone and she’ll begin to take orders then.
Pick up will be at the Wagon Wheel at 6012 on Route 22.
Kaufman says for now, she will be selling only whole cakes between Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Wagon Wheel recently celebrated 60 years in business.
The restaurant served breakfast, lunch and dinner and had plenty of “Homestead Favorites” including Salisbury steak, homemade meatloaf, liver and onions, chicken, seafood, sandwiches and more.
