Wegmans VP says he can see the grocer expanding in Pittsburgh

One location will open in Cranberry, the other in the South Hills

Friday morning

Pittsburgh's Headlines: October 30 2026

Wegman’s grocery stores has announced it’s second location is planned for Southwestern PA and there could be more in the future.

Work will begin to reimagine and renovate the The Galleria in Mt. Lebanon beginning in 2028, with the first location in Cranberry expected to open in fall 2027.

Dan Aken a vice president with Wegmans, tells KDKA Radio they believe it’s their selection and customer service that sets them apart from competitors.

“The way we look at it is one-stop shopping, with everyday low pricing and it’s really our employees that set us aside, it’s fantastic customer service,” said Aken.

And while there are currently no active plans for additional stores, Aken says the Pittsburgh market is a place he can see more Wegmans locations opening in the future.

“Given the size of the market, we believe there is definitely more room for us to grow,” said Aken.

Aken adds that the success of the first two locations opening will go a long way on determining if the continue to expand in Southwestern PA.
