A new bill signed last week will get the ball rolling on finding a buyer for the former SCI Pittsburgh.

Now, the state can begin soliciting potential buyers, which PA senator Wayne Fontana says will heavily involve the community.

"Making sure that the community has input as to what goes there and what they feel comfortable in that it would be an asset to their community."

The bill now allows the state to solicit proposals for the sale of the facility, a process that had been on hold since 2017, when Manchester Bidwell pulled out of an agreement to buy it.

Fontana spearheaded the bill, and says there are some specific things he's looking for in the next buyer.

In recent years, the facility has been used as a set for multiple shows and movies.
